Christmas Cheer to Boot!

How blessed am I? I got to spend part of my morning with this sweet girl! (--I don't mean to be bragging, but how can I not?!) She is a gem of a girl: smiley, sweet, curious, mild-mannered and then there are the baby blues! Even though I am so busy I could almost cry, I HAD to take a few minutes to share some of these images. These should definitely add to your Christmas cheer.

Is Christmas really just around the corner? It seems like my kids were just picking bluebells! I love this time of year ~ the thought of entertaining, (whether I actually DO it or not), taking the time to think about what would really please loved friends, nieces and nephews, smelling the spiced apple and peppermint lattes....mmmm, baking my family's favorite treats, and remembering the greatest gift God has given us in a special way.

It's also such a great time to get in touch with loved ones that we may only make contact with once a year. I love watching my cousins' kids grow up in the photos that they send to me each Christmas, and hearing about what's new in the lives of my high school friends. And I love sharing my life, and photos of my kids. Huh....photos of my kids.....better get on that!

I have gathered and designed my card templates for the holidays. You can see more in a client gallery I set up on my website (password is cards). The cards are double-sided, 5x7 press-printed cards, on your choice of a variety of beautiful textures....these are not your run-of-the-mill cards. To me, they say you care. Cards are $35 for 25 cards and at this price, are really my gift to you.

A Wonderful Wedding!

I am so honored to have been a part of this bride and groom's special day. The wedding was as beautiful as it could be! It didn't turn out exactly as planned, but the bride was SO gracious and accommodating, and carried on with a lovely ceremony and reception, albeit with a few changes. It was truly lovely, as you can see from the sneak peak of photos.

Westport Vacation - Kitsap Photographer

The Washington coast is so beautiful! The scenery in Westport is gorgeous, with gentle breezes and the soft kiss of the sun. I took the opportunity to photograph my kids (of course), and am so glad I did! Wouldn't it be nice to see this view everyday? Who wants to schedule a session there so I can go back again?! :)

They Grow Them Cute in Alaska!

What a pleasure it was to meet and photograph this fun family! The toddler was SO good, and I love that smile! The baby was such a trooper and stayed awake nearly the whole time. (I did manage to get a few shots of him when he took a 10 minute snoozer.....couldn't resist.) I think they are both so precious, and what a fun family! The Finer Things in Life - Bremerton Photographer

The smell of fresh rain, the crunch of a dirt road under my feet, a child playing in her environment.....these are the finer things in life. I get no greater joy than from watching a child live and move and breath in her own space.

Lifestyle photography is what it's called when you try to capture this in images. It's my favorite. With a toddler, it's a must, as far as I'm concerned. I haven't met (or raised) one yet that liked sitting still long enough to have their "formal portrait" taken. I heard very few "no!"s from this sweet little girl during the session, and she may have even had as much fun as I did!

First, let me say sorry to all my blog subscribers. I have sorely neglected my blog for some time, but have not forgotten you! End of the school year gets crazy at our house....is it the same for all of you?! Now that things have chilled a bit, I can get back to spending more time doing what I love!

I remember summers with my cousins. My sisters and I had no better friends than our cousins. It never mattered that we only saw them once a year, or that we didn't know each other's favorite food or color. The time spent with cousins was the best time all year. Hopefully it's the same for this extended family that gets to spend so much time together this summer! I think you can tell which is which: 2 families of adorable kids. Summer blessings to you!

New Life!

My dear friends have a precious new baby girl!! These were taken when she was less than a week old. She was wide awake and raring to go! This little sweetheart is already on the move...I have never seen a newborn even half as active as she is!

You know how you don't really have to worry about a newborn left on a bed? They usually don't move, can't move. Let's just say I wouldn't leave her on a bed...even at 5 days old.

Congratulations, Friends! I can't wait to watch her grow.

No.... SERIOUSLY!! I am fortunate enough to get to see these boys all the time. With their terrific personalities, I tend to overlook how incredibly handsome they are!! I love photographing them because it reminds me of their smashing good looks. The eldest is sporting his new gap...check the mouth...and the youngest is sporting his smile that won't quit, as usual. I grew up in a family of three girls....no brothers. BOY did I ever miss out! These three kids have so much fun together and obviously really love each other -a great reflection on their parents! There is so much to photography that isn't apparent at first glance. I think that's one reason I'm so terribly hooked...it will never get boring for me. I have a lot of fun in the processing stage. I love computer work and Photoshop is a tool I could never do without. I'd go so far as to say that Photoshop has changed my life. OK, not the actual program, but the challenge and excitement that each new photo brings, and the challenges of becoming proficient in this terribly deep program.

Here is an edit I was working on last night with some new tricks I learned. The original is a nice image of a beautiful girl, and there is certainly nothing wrong with it, but hopefully I added a little WOW factor in the editing. You decide:

My Beautiful Friend and Her Family

My long-awaited trip to Indianapolis finally happened.... A little history: First, I finally left my kids overnight for the first time. Check out the previous post to see how big they are. Yes, - the first time! Second, my friend has lived in Indiana for about 4 years and this is the first time I've visited to see her home, her Chiropractic practice and her new pup. Third, it's been 10 years since I've taken a trip alone; something I was VERY used to before getting married. Ok, one more, 4th, it was the first snow I had seen of the season. Indianapolis is a great place to visit!

They Just Keep Growing!

When I compare last year's Christmas photos to the current year's I always get a little emotional. They don't stop growing, do they? I am glad for the growth in them: physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually. But I SOOOOoo wish I could just capture everything about who they are right now and keep a part of it forever. I guess that's what I want the images I make to be, at least in part. Here's hoping I can look back on these some day and feel the same adoration and love I feel for them now.

I had my first holiday session yesterday. The kids were decked in their fancy red and black....could they be cuter? A HUGE thank you to Carter's Nursery for the use of the Holiday items! Sweet Baby Girl!

Honestly, I can't imagine anything more precious than the sweet baby girl I met today. Life and birth and babies are all so wonderful! This sweetest thing was 16 days from her birthday this day.

What a blessing for the siblings and parents, and what a treasure for her to be born into such a loving, fantastic family. I can't thank you enough for welcoming me into your home to help you capture the blissfulness of beginnings.

I had a really great time photographing this senior yesterday. Most of the shots were in the yard where he grew up....so much there and so much fun: berries, woods, an orchard, I wish I could have gotten it all in! The ones that weren't taken in the yard were taken at the water at Illahee State Park, where I had never been before, so thanks for the introduction!! Here's a preview....

My Studio Venture

The studio is almost open! (OK, it's my living room right now.) You might not know it from these images, though. My kids are having fun, and I'm having a blast. What will we do when we need to take out backdrop down? Well, no entertaining scheduled for a while, so it may stay up for some time. More fun for us! With the Fall weather approaching, this will be give us all an indoor option. Yeah!

A Photographer's Best Friend!

What a helpful pooch I've got! Now these, of course, will be added to my portfolio. She poses for me like I'm holding a giant chicken leg in front of her face....here's the joke: I'm not! No treats, no cajoling, only rarely do I even call her name - which she still seems to not answer to 1/2 the time - and she still gives me her all. There's a compliant pup!!

Better Than Ever!

I had the extreme pleasure of photographing this little guy when he was just a few weeks old. Now he's 6 months and has grown and changed so much! I didn't think he could be any cuter the first time I photographed him, but this day he was better than ever and a smile a second! He was so busy hamming it up for the camera that he smiled right through his naptime. Hugs and kisses to the little guy and his mom.

It's official....at least for now....I'm offering pet portrait and lifestyle candids. Yoko is a neighborhood dog where we've been vacationing this week and just about the prettiest dog I've ever seen. And is she ever sweet! My kids went from being affraid to loving her in 2.5 minutes! Time Off For Good Behavior

Well......that's time off for ME (from dog training) for HER good behavior. Schotze is our new family puppy. She is a sweet 8 month old mini schnauzer that came to us with her fair share of behavior issues. I been so busy training that I haven't had my camera out too much but to photograph her. (Need to share her with all of my online friends!)

I will hopefully have more time to work on my business soon, as she's learning quickly. Until then, I'll be hard at work with her. :)

I've been wanting to photograph these two for quite some time. After rain and snow delays, (yes, in April), we finally got together. What fun these two cuties are! I learned something new about photography, like I do with every session, but there is nothing like the life experience I gain when spending time with innocent young ones! Like a breath of fresh air!

Is it spring or is it the excitement I feel about starting my new photography business? Things are really taking off as I continue to work on building my portfolio and gear up for my grand opening in September. (Anyone else thinking of Christmas cards yet?!) There is so much to do to start a business! Now I can check "starting a blog" off the list. :)
